American Routes Holiday Special 8:00 - 10:00

Celebrating the Holidays with the 2023 National Heritage Fellows

This holiday season, we’re celebrating the 2023 National Endowment for the Arts National Heritage Fellows. Each year since 1982, the program has recognized artistic excellence, lifetime achievement, and contributions to the nation's traditional arts heritage. This year’s fellows include the late hill country blues musician, R.L. Boyce; Suquamish basketmaker, Ed Carriere; African American quilter, Michael Cummings; Tejano musician, Joe De León “Little Joe” Hernández; Hawaiian Kapa maker, Roen Hufford; wampum and fiber artist, Elizabeth James-Perry; New Mexican sculptor, Luis Tapia; pipa master, Wu Man; and our own American Routes host, Nick Spitzer. Plus a live set from New Orleans’ Treme Brass Band, who received the award in 2006.

American Routes New Orleans New Year’s Live! 10:00 - Midnight

It’s time to celebrate the New Year with live music from the French Quarter including the Rebirth Brass Band, jazz with Leroy Jones and Ellis Marsalis, Little Freddie King’s country blues, funk from Jon Cleary and songs from Charmaine Neville. Start the New Year right with American Routes.

Pharmacy Fusion (regularly scheduled) 7:20 PM

Are you among the millions of Americans choosing to focus your New Year's resolution on weight loss? In this special edition of Pharmacy Fusion, Interim Pharmacy Dean Tom Wadsworth welcomes Zach Rosko, PharmD, and Clinical Pharmacy Manager Ucheoma Nwizu for an in-depth discussion about weight management and weight loss drugs, including Ozempic, Tirzepatide, and others in the GLP-1 agonists class.

Capitol Fools 8:00 pm (start time follows ISU Athletics)

What happens when Washington, D.C.’s premiere, political satire group - the Capitol Steps - call it quits after nearly 40 years? Most folks would agree that it was a great run, and the story would end there. But an intrepid group of former Capitol Steps cast members and the former co-writer of the Capitol Steps would not go quietly into that good night. This band of fools reflected on a world without musical, political satire, and didn’t like what they saw. And just like that the Capitol Fools were born.
