US Coast Guard Auxiliary Water Safety Tips

Jenny Shea and Craig Hartman, volunteers with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, visit with KISU's McKenzie Young about water safety. Primary tips include wearing a life jacket when on or near the water and creating a float plan that lets others know who is going boating, where you are boating, when you are going and when you plan on returning from boating.

National Safe boating week is May 18-24, 2024 however good practices on or near the water should always take priority. In addition to the primary tips of wearing a life jacket and making and sharing a float plan, the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary offers vessel safety checks for powered boats or paddle crafts, boating safety classes, information on becoming a volunteer or active duty member and more online at www.cgaux.org
