Don't Call it Jazz, Charnett Moffett

DCiJ

Charnett Moffett was a virtuosic bassist from NYC, born to a family of musicians. His led one of the more fascinating and impactful careers of any contemporary jazz musician. Moffett performed with some of the most influential musicians, and recorded on some of the most important and seminal albums in jazz history. His own recordings were hyper creative and daring. Moffett released dynamic records with experimental soundscapes, orchestrations, and compositions. But at his core, he was an incredible bassist, a mind blowing soloist, with a deep groove who brought so much energy and spirit to every gig, performance and recording.
Charnett Moffett recently passed away at the tragic age of 54 of a heart attack. Another legendary jazz musician, gone too soon. Today on Don’t call it Jazz, we celebrate the life and career of Mr. Charnett Moffett, bassist extraordinaire and a wonderful artist. Thank you for all you gave us with your time on earth.
