The show is a modern adaptation of the 18th century play by Moliere. Directed by Jeff Peterson, the show is a slapstick comedy about a hypochondriac who’s taken financially advantage of by his doctors.
Peterson said before the first show, “What we’re hoping the audience will get out of it is an incredibly good time.”
According to Bengal Newspaper Reporter Austen Hunzeker who attended the show, it was indeed a knee-slapping good time.
Rehearsals for the cast and crew happened five times a week since the beginning of the semester for up to four hours each day. Peterson estimated that a few thousand hours have been spent working towards this production contributed by the 60 individuals involved.
James Baum, a junior at ISU who played the main role in The Imaginary Invalid explained the show is about “fighting for love, and about being present in your life to appreciate and fulfill it”
Since wrapping up production and showing of their first play of the semester, the department has already begun work on their next show. “The Little Prince” will have opening night November 15th at 7:30pm at the Bistline Theatre.
One obvious trait of the students and faculty involved in these productions is their passion for making high quality, entertaining shows for their audiences, so come out to support the ISU Theater and Dance Department.
