ISU Avalanche Awareness

McKenzie Young visits with Justin Daley, Director of Idaho State University's Outdoor Adventure Center (OAC), and Maren Hunter, Clinical Instructor with Human Performance and Sports Studies. They share opportunities for all snow sport enthusiasts to participate in, including a couple of clinics in January taking place at Idaho State University's Pond Student Union in Pocatello.

State of the Snowpack is January 15, from 7 - 9:30 pm in the Bengal Theater. A professional Education Coordinator from Bridger - Teton Avalanche Center is going to give a presentation on the State of the Snowpack. This event will be a great opportunity to learn more about avalanche forecasting and learn about the snowpack at that time. Concessions will be available.

On January 29, OAC is hosting a Beacon Clinic night. This is a hands-on experience where participants will get to practice skills, or learn how to use a beacon, probe and shovel. The Beacon Clinic Night will be held in the ISU Student Union Ballroom from 5 - 9 PM, and participants should sign up for time slots. Bring your own pack, beacon, probe, and shovel and if one doesn't have equipment, OAC will provide gear.
