Bringing the World to Idaho

Dr. Raphael Njoku and Eric Morris talk with Dean Turley-Ames about the International Affairs Council, a student organization that plans the annual Frank Church Symposium, which brings diverse people from around the world to discuss international issues and which provides invaluable opportunities for the students who help organize it.

Eric Morris shares his experience as the recent former president of the IAC and the doors it opened up for him, including an internship at the White House and his current position as an intern for US Congressman Mike Simpson.

On March 9-10, 2023, the IAC will host the52nd Annual Frank Church Symposium on International Affairs. Named in honor of the late Senator Frank Church, the symposium has grown over the years, offering the university and the community opportunities to discuss global issues and expand their perspectives.

Kandi Turley-Ames began her journey at Idaho State University by graduating from ISU with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 1990 and a Master of Science in Psychology in 1993. She completed her Ph.D. in Psychology at Washington State University in 1996. She is a graduate of the Higher Education Resource Service for women in higher education administration. Her academic area of expertise includes memory and cognition. She has published numerous papers with colleagues and students on how strategies impact memory and higher cognitive abilities.
