Episode 11: Phoenix QRF with Founders Jake VerSteeg and Jesse Williams

In this episode, Dan introduces PhoenixQRF founders Jake VerSteeg and Jesse Williams. Their mission is to provide a safe place for Veterans in their community to support camaraderie surrounding common experiences “by Veterans, for Veterans”, finding purpose through the challenges they faced while in the defense of their nation as Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, and Airmen.

PhoenixQRF also hosts weekly PTSD workshops and a 24-hour Veteran Crisis Hotline (208) 351-5410 for Southeast Idaho. Jake and Jesse share some of their experiences responding to Veterans encountering Mental Health Crisis’, collaboration with Emergency Response Command Units both on a State, County, and Municipal level. As an organization, PhoenixQRF has emerging partnerships with the Veteran Affairs Mental Health Services as well as the National Veteran Crisis Hotline and is actively engaged in raising Mental Health Awareness and crisis response training. Dan Miller is using his Military Veteran benefits to complete a graduate program at Idaho State University. Dan served gallantly as a Navy Hospital Corpsman in the Fleet Marine Forces. After his honorable discharge, Dan found himself redefined as a Veteran who battled with PTSD, alcoholism, substance abuse, and addiction. Dan found strength in Recovery, enjoys a life worth living, and is pursuing his MBA in Project Management.
