Idaho Beaver are rarely talked about, but vital to Idaho’s ecosystem. They contribute not only to waterflow in many of Southeast Idaho’s prominent watersheds but also help with wildlife across the area. Sadly, beaver are managed as furbearers and their populations are steadily decreasing across our state. From migration blocades to mitigation issues that often result in the deaths of numerous beaver, Watershed Guardians advocate for appropriate behavior towards Idaho’s Beaver. It is essential that the issues resulting in beaver’s declining population be addressed and remediated, and Mike Settell gives us an introduction to what the threats are, and how we can help.
