America Reimagined Welcomes Caroline Heldman

This edition of America Reimagined explores the role and importance of women in the 2020 presidential election. Constitutional scholar Dr. David Adler welcoms Dr. Caroline Heldman, a prominent  political scientist and presidential scholar whose work focuses on gender equality. 

“America Reimagined” affords our guests, experts drawn from the four corners of the nation, to take stock of America and to  contemplate or imagine what the nation might look like under different circumstances, policies and programs.

Joining us today is Dr. Caroline Heldman, a prominent  political scientist and presidential scholar whose work focuses on gender equality. She is Chair of the Department of Critical Theory and Social Justice at Occidental College, and Vice President for Research at the Geena Davis Institute for Gender in Media. A frequent commentator on national television programs, Dr. Heldman is the author of six books including, most recently, “Madam President ? Gender and Politics on the Road to the White House.”

Her research specializes in media, the presidency, and systems of power (racism, classism, sexism, ableism, ageism, and sizeism) and their intersections. Dr. Heldman has published six books, including Protest Politics in the Marketplace: Consumer Activism in the Corporate Age (Cornell University Press, 2017), Women, Power, and Politics: The Fight for Gender Equality in the United States (Oxford University Press, 2017), and Madame President? Gender & Politics on the Road to the White House (Lynne Reinner, 2020).
