Bengals Set for Battle With Conference Foe Vandals

Pocatello, ID- The Idaho State men's basketball team will be taking on the University of Idaho Vandals this Saturday, January 28th at 2 p.m. PST / 3 p.m. MST at ICCU Arena in Moscow, Idaho. Over the last 19 seasons (since 2004) Idaho State have gone 14-8 against the Vandals in 22 total matchups. The Bengals have had the Vandals' number over recent years, winning the last eight of nine games against the Vandals.

Idaho will enter the game with an 8-14 record on the year and 2-7 in Big Sky Conference play, losing their latest matchup against Weber State on Thursday. The Vandals are averaging 75.4 points per game on 48 percent shooting from the field (1st in the Big Sky) and 35.5 percent from three.

The Bengals will look to slow the Vandals offense down behind their shut-down defense. The Bengals' defense has been locking their opponents down this year holding opponents to just 30.5 percent from three-point territory (1st in the Big Sky), 43.9 percent shooting from the field (3rd in the Big Sky), and average 6.2 steals per game (3rd in the Big Sky).

The tip will be at 3 p.m. MST at ICCU Arena in Moscow. Jerry Miller will call the game on KISU.

Eastern Washington Recap 
The Bengals men's basketball team went up against the Eastern Washington University Eagles Thursday night. Idaho State scratched and clawed to hang with Eastern Washington all game long, however the Eagles were able to outpace the Bengals in the second half, downing the Bengals 81-68. The Bengals fall to 7-14 on the year & 4-4 in Big Sky Conference play. After the win Eastern Washington improves to 15-7 on the season & 9-0 in conference play, stretching their unbeaten streak to 11 games.

The Bengals kept it close with the Eagles all first half as we saw the Bengals lead at the break by two, 30-28. However, it was all Eastern Washington in the second half as they proceeded to outscore the Bengals by 15 points and go on to win 81-68.

Brayden Parker led the Bengals in scoring tonight finishing with 18 points on 8-of-15 shooting from the field, five rebounds, and two assists. While Maleek Arington tallied 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting from the field, 2-of-5 from three, and three assists off the bench.

The Bengals finished the game shooting 41.9 percent from the floor and 25 percent from deep finishing 7-of-28 from deep. The Bengals tallied 12 assists, 26 rebounds, and 6 steals. Eastern Washington finished with shooting 50.9 percent from the field and 25 percent from beyond the arc.
