Mary Ann Arnold and Amy Canfield have been appointed by Gov. Brad Little to serve on the Idaho State Historical Society’s Board of Trustees, according to a press release from the historical society.
Arnold will represent District 4 on the board, which has seven total members statewide, while Canfield will represent District 2.
Board Chairman Bill Butticci said in the press release that he is grateful for the expertise that the new members bring to the agency.
“Our board is comprised of experts in Idaho history, historic preservation, education, governance and fundraising; and unites the Idaho State Historical Society with collaborators and advocates across our great state,” Butticci said in the release. “I look forward to our board working as a team to advance the ISHS and serve Idahoans, families, educators and communities.”
Arnold is the president of the Foundation for Idaho History and served as the lead for the Idaho State Museum’s capital fundraising campaign during its public phase of the project. She served as a corporate director and engineer at Morrison-Knudsen and has also served on other community boards, including at the MK Foundation, Assistance League of Boise, Girl Scouts Silver Sage Council and Saint Alphonsus Foundation.
Canfield, who holds a Ph.D. in U.S. and public history, is a history professor at Lewis-Clark State College. She has served as a historian for the Center for Arts and History at LCSC. She has also served as a consulting historian for the Idaho State Historical Society during a National Register nomination in conjunction with the Nez Perce Tribe, Idaho State Historic Preservation Office and the National Park Service. She also is a member of the Historic Sites Review Board and Nez Perce County Prosecutor’s Office Advisory Board.
“Both Mary Ann and Amy recognize the important link between preserving the history of our great state and promoting civic engagement. I appreciate their willingness to serve our citizens and share Idaho’s proud history,” Little said in the press release.
