POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State volleyball team finished up hosting two conference matches this week against Eastern Washington and the University of Idaho.
In the match against EWU, we saw the Bengals fall to the Eagles in four sets, 3-1 (27-25, 18-25, 20-25, 12-25). Jaydin Watts led the way for Idaho State in this match, finishing with 13 kills, while Sadie Bluth and Marci Richins, finished with eight kills apiece. Lauren Mena led the way in assists, finishing with 27. On the defensive end for Idaho State Jaydin Watts had three blocks, and Lily Liekweg finished with 17 digs.
For the second match on the weekend the Bengals took on rivals, the Idaho Vandals. In this match the Bengals fought hard, all match long, and came out victorious in a 5 set finale 3-2 (25-14, 22-25, 25-10, 23-25, 15-9). Marci Richins led the team with a season-high 13 kills followed by Meline Robarge who also had a season-high in kills with 12. Sadie Bluth also had 12 kills in the match. Aliyah Sopo'aga tallied a season-high in assists with 39. And on the defensive end for Idaho State Marci Richins had a season-high with 5 blocks on the day. Lily Liekweg and Asiah Sopo'aga had 19 digs apiece.
After the victory the Bengals move to 3-12 on the season and 1-3 in conference play.
Idaho State volleyball will be back home for the final game of their three-match homestand. Hosting the Weber State Wildcats on Saturday, October 6th at 6 p.m.
