Bengal Volleyball Heating Up, Winning 4 In a Row

POCATELLO, Idaho- The Bengal volleyball team completed two road matches this week, taking on Idaho and Eastern Washington.

In the match versus Idaho, we saw the Bengals sweep the Vandals, winning 3-0 (25-16, 25-22, 25-22). Jamie Streit led the way for the Bengals in this one, finishing with 14 kills. Aliyah Sopo'aga led the way in assists, finishing with 34. On the defensive end of the floor the Bengals had another great showing, led by the Lily Liekweg whoSopo'aga finished with 11 digs and Sadie Bluth and Aliyah Sopo'aga both finished with 9. Idaho State also dominated at the net, outblocking the Lumberjacks 5-2, led by Marci Richins (4) and Aliyah Sopo'aga (2).

For the second match on the week the Bengals took on the Eastern Washington Eagles. In this match the Bengals fought hard all match, and ended up downing the Eagles in four sets (25-19, 25-15, 22-25, 27-25). It was a great performance all around in this one as Jamie Streit led the way in kills with a season-high for ISU with 24, followed by Sadie Bluth with 13. Aliyah Sopo'aga tallied 44 assists on the day, and on the defensive end for Idaho State Lily Liekweg finished with 16 digs while Jamie Streit had 14. The Bengals outblocked the Bears in the match 8-3, behind Jaydin Watts' 7 block outing.

After the 2-0 weekend the Bengals are now winners of their last four matches in a row and five of their last six matches and move to 8-14 on the season and jump to 6-5 in conference play.

Idaho State volleyball will be back on the road for their next match, facing off against Weber State on Saturday, November 4th at 6 p.m.
