Idaho State Earns 6-1 Win Over Eagles on Senior Day

POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State women's tennis team completed their home schedule this weekend, as they would host the Eastern Washington Eagles for senior day. The Bengals would have four seniors celebrating their senior day; Hana Cho, Lola O'Lideadha, Sol O'Lideadha, and Megan Lang-Gould.

In the doubles matches Idaho State would go on to sweep all three matches. Asem Shoybek and Stefanya Shalakhova would cruise to a 6-2 win in the #2 doubles match, Hana Cho and Megan Lang-Gould would earn a 6-4 win in the #3 doubles match, and the twins, Sol and Lola O'Lideadha, would win in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (7-5).

To begin the singles matches Lola O'Lideadha would handily win in the #1 singles match, 6-2, 6-3. However, Asem Shoybek would fall in the #4 singles match 4-6, 1-6, to give EWU their first team point of the match, the score now 2-1. The Bengals would go on to win the rest of the singles matches, beginning with Sol O'Lideadha in the #3 singles match, 6-4, 6-0, followed by Hana Cho winning in the #2 singles match, 6-2, 6-4. Megan Lang-Gould would earn a 6-2, 6-2 win in the #6 singles match, and Stefanya Shalakhova would go on to win the #5 singles match 2-6, 7-5, 10-7, giving Idaho State the 6-1 win over the Eagles.

Following the win the Bengals' record moves to 10-5 overall and 4-2 in conference play.

Head Coach Gretchen Maloney shared her thoughts on the team's performance on senior day, "What a great senior day we had today. All four seniors went out and played exactly how they wanted to, and executed their plans so well. The team overall was super positive and loved being out there. This is an amazing group of seniors, and I'm going to miss them so much."

Idaho State will play their final three matches of the regular season next week on the road. The first will be Sunday, April 14th in Missoula, Montana vs the University of Montana Griz. The second and third matches will be in Lewiston, Idaho as the Bengals take on Lewis-Clark State College on Monday, April 15th and rivals, the University of Idaho Vandals on April 16th.
