Click here to register for the event at BoiseStatePublicRadio.org

On Thursday, June 6, Boise State Public Radio and KTVB present a panel discussion called Navigating Teen Mental Health. This solutions-based discussion will address some of the issues around higher rates of depression and anxiety among Idaho teens. These include the pressures of social media, the distractions of smartphones, and struggles to establish authentic connections.

The free event will be held from 6 to 8 PM at the Boise Center on The Grove, on the fourth floor of the East Building. Doors open at 5:15 PM and light refreshments will be available.

The moderators are Brian Holmes of KTVB and Troy Oppie of Boise State Public Radio News. Panelists include Megan Smith of Boise State University and Communities For Youth, Vashti Summervill of Family Healing Pathways, and Maja Ledgerwood of Northwest Nazarene University and Rural Social Service Solutions.

“With mental health as a recent focus of our newsroom,” said Tom Michael, general manager of Boise State Public Radio, “we want to have a conversation with the community about the issues our teenagers are facing and how to work through them.”

The event will include presentations and allow time for audience interaction and questions for the health experts.

“At KTVB, we believe there is power in conversation and sharing ideas,” said Jessica Hagan, president, and general manager at KTVB, “We hope this is a good step to empowering our young people, their families, and those vested in their future.”

Registration details are online at BoiseStatePublicRadio.org.
