ISU MPA: Preparing Students for a Public Service Career

Dean Kandi Turley Ames talks with Dr. Mark McBeth, Professor and Chair of the Department of Political Science, and alumna Whitney Fenwick about the Master of Public Administration degree option.

Dr. McBeth shares his background with the political science program and as director of the MPA. Whitney Fenwick, ‘21 ISU MPA alumna, joins the discussion to share her experience as a graduate of the program. Guests discuss how the MPA experience can help people in diverse fields seeking to increase their knowledge and skills in the public sector, where some of the numerous alumni have gone since graduation, and the accessibility and depth and breadth of the opportunities provided by career-focused training in the program.

Whitney Fenwick, ‘21 MPA alumna, Legal Programs Manager in the Office of General Counsel at ISU

Kandi Turley-Ames began her journey at Idaho State University by graduating from ISU with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 1990 and a Master of Science in Psychology in 1993. She completed her Ph.D. in Psychology at Washington State University in 1996. She is a graduate of the Higher Education Resource Service for women in higher education administration. Her academic area of expertise includes memory and cognition. She has published numerous papers with colleagues and students on how strategies impact memory and higher cognitive abilities.
