In 2020, he helped cover the presidential election with NPR's Washington Desk and has also reported for NPR's business desk covering the workforce. He's produced and reported with NPR from across the country, as well as China and Mexico, covering topics like politics, trade, the environment, immigration and breaking news. He started as an intern at All Things Considered after graduating with a public policy degree from the University of Michigan, where he was the managing news editor at The Michigan Daily. He has previously taught classes within the School of Education and for the Dexheimer Leadership Fellows Program at Portland and the College of Arts and Letters at the University of Notre Dame. Much of his research interests, scholarly writings, presentations and expertise include the first-generation student experience. Recently, he has co-edited the three-book anthology series Rethinking Higher Education Through the Strengths and Insights of First-Generation College Students. He is a graduate of both the University of Notre Dame (B.A., M.Ed.) and the University of Portland (Ed.D.).
