Idaho State Women's Basketball Head Coach Seton Sobolewski has announced the Bengals' 2024-25 schedule.
The Orange and Black are making moves this season with a competitive non-conference slate and a local 'Power-4' program coming to Reed Gym in November.
"We have a very fun and challenging schedule for 2024-2025 that includes three Power 4 schools and several mid-major powerhouses." Remarked Sobolewski on the years' schedule.
The Bengals open the season Friday, November 1 with an exhibition against Northwest Nazarene. The game is followed by a home contest against Arizona Christian on November. 4, the first 'couting' game of the season.
Idaho State then hits the road, heading to the west coast for clashes against Cal and San Diego State on Nov. 7 and Nov. 11
Coming back to Reed Gym, the Bengals welcome one of the biggest non-conference opponents in recent memory as the BYU Cougars come to Pocatello on Saturday, November 16.
This is the first meeting of the two programs in Pocatello since January 7, 2003.
Last season, the Bengals and Cougars battled in an overtime thriller in Provo where the Cougars eked out a 79-76 win over the Orange and Black.
"BYU will be the first Power 4 school we've ever had at home in the 17 years I've been at Idaho State. I'm sure this game will draw a lot of attention and we should have very good attendance for this one."
After the BYU contest, the Bengals bring the Westminster Griffins to Reed Gym on November. 21.
That weekend, the Bengals head to the Lone Star State to take on the TCU Horned Frogs in Fort Worth on Sunday, November 24.
After Texas, the Bengals head south to Mexico to take on the Cancun Challenge for the fifth time under Head Coach Seton Sobolewski. The Bengals will play Rhode Island on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28, and then will face off with Vermont on Nov. 29.
"This will be the fifth time we've taken our team to play in the Cancun Challenge. It is an experience our alumni consistently bring up as one of their favorite memories. It's a great cultural experience with great basketball"
Coming home from Cancun, the Bengals will face off two challengers in the 2024 Big Sky/Summit League Challenge. On Wednesday, December 4, Idaho State will host the University of Denver. The Bengals will then travel east and take on the University of Missouri, Kansas City (UMKC) Saturday, December 7.
The final non-conference game of the season comes on December 20 as the Bengals take on Northern Illinois.
"Just before Christmas break, we are going to be able to bring Tasia close to her hometown of Chicago. Her family and friends will be able to see her live when we play at Northern Illinois, an hour and a half from her house." Said Sobolewski.
