Men's Tennis Goes 1-1 in Vegas

LAS VEGAS, NV- Idaho State's men's tennis team traveled to Las Vegas, Nevada over the weekend, facing off against the UNLV Rebels and the UC San Diego Tritons on Saturday February 11th. The Bengals fell to the Rebels 4-1 and defeated the Tritons 4-1.

In the Bengals' match against UNLV the Bengals No. 2 doubles team of Patrick Kristensen and Wikus Robbertse defeated their opponents 6-3. In the singles matches Idaho State battled valiantly, but their lone singles victory against the Rebels came in the No. 6 singles match by Hiroki Fujita by a score of 6-3, 7-5.

In their next match against UCSD the Bengals took it to the Tritons as they swept the doubles matches with scores of 4-2 (Kramer/De Pellegrin), 6-1 (Kristensen/Robbertse), and 6-1 (Fujita/Cankus). In the No. 1 singles match Patrick Kristensen was taken to 3 sets but came out with the victory 6-4, 5-7, 6-2. Kramer (No. 3) and Robbertse (No. 4) both won their singles matches handily in straight sets. While we saw both Victor Sklenka (No. 5) and Cankus (No. 6) win their singles matches in 3 sets.

The Bengals men's tennis squad will be traveling to Newberg, Oregon for their next match against George Fox University on Friday, February 17th.
