Bengals Can't Take Down Rams on Senior Day
POCATELLO, Idaho- The Bengal soccer team concluded their senior day matchup with the Colorado State Rams on Sunday, September 10th, as the Rams came out on top by a score of 2-1.
In the match Colorado State opened the scoring in the 17th minute after a turnover near the midway line CSU's Olivia Stutzman fired away from deep leading to the Rams early 1-0 lead. However, this lead was short lived as the Bengals responded in the 20th minute with a Marta Nieto header from a gorgeous free-kick assist by Callie Kitagawa-Mullen. In the 53rd minute of the match the Rams were able to hit home a rebounded shot for a goal off of a corner kick that proved to be the deciding goal in the match as Colorado State won 2-1.
Chelsea Radicia played all 90 minutes in goal for the Bengals, making four saves and allowing two goals. Defender, Marta Nieto finished with 1 goal off of 2 shots in 77 minutes played, and fellow defender, Callie Kitagawa-Mullen, finished with one assist in 81 minutes played.
After the match concluded the Bengals celebrated and honored their seven seniors on the team, dawning the Orange & Black this season. These seven seniors include: #2 Aisley Allen, #4 Meagan Tamashiro, #5 Sophie Spencer-Webb, #9 Jordyn Roth, #12 Callie Kitagawa-Mullen, #13 Kaylyn Buchanan, and #31 Chelsea Radicia.
The Idaho State soccer team travels to southern Utah this week as they go to Cedar City to face off against Southern Utah University at 4 p.m. and St. George for a date with Utah Tech on Sunday afternoon at 1:30 p.m.
