Bengals Can't Pull Off the Upset in Fresno, Fall 79-67

FRESNO, California -The Idaho State men's basketball team traveled to Fresno, California on Tuesday to face off with the Fresno State Bulldogs.

The Bengals would come out of the gates strong, surging to a 19-8 lead just 6:30 into the game thanks in part to 11 early points from Brayden Parker who started the game 4-of-4 from the field, making all three of his three-point attempts. However, Fresno State had a response for Idaho State, as the Bulldogs stormed to a 29-28 lead with just 5:36 remaining in the first half. The Bengals and Bulldogs scrapped the rest of the half, but Fresno State would take a seven-point advantage in the break, 42-35.

In the second half the Bengals would attempt to claw their way back into the game, but the Bulldogs would not allow them to get closer than seven points the rest of the game. Fresno State would maintain a double-digits lead for most of the half, and go on to down Idaho State by a score of 79-67. After the loss the Bengals fall to 4-5 on the year and the win will boost Fresno State to 4-4 on the season.

Brayden Parker led the Bengals tonight, tying his season-high with 21 points going 8-of-14 from the field and 4-of-9 from deep, while also tallying five rebounds, two blocks, two steals, and one assist. Kiree Huie also had a good game tonight, putting up 17 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the floor, seven rebounds and one block. Miguel Tomley led the Bengal backcourt, totaling 13 points, three assists, three rebounds, one steal, and one block. Maleek Arington finished the game with seven points, four rebounds, three assists, and one steal, and the final starter for the Bengals tonight, Isaiah Griffin, had five points, six rebounds, and two assists. Off the bench for ISU Kolton Mitchell finished with four points and two assists in 14 minutes played.

The Bengals finished the game shooting 44.8 percent from the field and 26.9 percent from deep making 7-of-26 from three-point territory. The Bengals tallied 11 assists, 29 rebounds, and 6 steals.

Fresno State finished the game shooting 52.7 percent from the field and 27.3 percent from beyond the arc. The Bulldogs led the Bengals in rebounds and assists tonight, as they finished with 17 assists and 35 boards to go along with their 8 steals on the evening.

The Idaho State men's basketball team will be back in action this Saturday, December 9th to take on Southern Utah University in Cedar City, Utah at 6:30 PM. This game will be available to stream on ESPN+ or you can follow along live with LiveStats.
