Bengals Fall to Lady Griz 66-55

POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State Bengals fell to 0-2 on the Big Sky Conference season as the Orange and Black fell to the Lazy Griz of Montana 66-55 in Missoula Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened
The Bengals took an early 7-2 lead on a Tasia Jordan Layup early in the first quarter, but afterward the Lady Griz put together a 14-2 run to retake the lead and never look back.
The three-ball was vital for Montana as they hit five in a 27-point first quarter that extended the lead the Bengals were unable to recover from.
The Orange and Black were outscored in three straight quarters despite the Bengals shooting over 40 percent from the floor the entirety of the game.
The fourth quarter saw the Bengals outscore Montana 14-7, but it was not enough and the Lady Griz came away with the 66-55 victory.

Notes

  • . The loss breaks a five-game win streak in Dahlberg Arena for the Bengals.
  • Maria Dias once again led the Bengals with 15 points on five-of-10 shooting from the floor. Dias ends the weekend with 36 points on 11-of-22 shooting from the field and a near-perfect 12-of-13 shooting from the free throw line
  • Laura Bello and Kacey Spink also scored in double figures. Bello shot seven-of-seven from the field for 14 points and Spink went five-of-10 for 12 points.
  • Kacey Spink hit just her 2nd three-pointer of the season and only one of three made three-pointers for the Bengals against Montana.
  • The Bengals have been outrebounded in the first two games of conference play 77-58.
  • Tasia Jordan led the Bengals with six rebounds. In the past three games, no Bengal has broken double-figures in rebounds.
  • The Bengals had 15 turnovers to Montana's 20 and were able to capitalize for 22 points off of those 15.
