Bengals Sweep Day 2 of Whataburger Invitational

Stephenville, Texas – The Idaho State Bengals got back on track Day two of the 2024 Whataburger Invitational taking Down Buffalo 5-1 and Mississippi Valley State 16-1 to sweep the day.

The Bengals improve to 9-1 on the season and have one more game in Texas to finish out the tournament.

Notes

· The win over MVSU is the Bengal's third 'mercy rule' win in 10 games

· Marley Goluskin picked up her 3rd win of the season; the Bengal freshman is now pitching a 0.53 ERA with just nine hits allowed in 17 innings pitched.

· Emma McMurray earned her first win of the year

· Angelica Cano led the Bengals Saturday with five hits on seven at bats scoring three runs and with four RBIs, a .714 batting average and a 1.000 SLG%.

· In the two games the Bengals averaged .423 with 22 hits while opponents hit only .200 against the Bengals.

· ISU's .469 and 16 run against MVSU was a season high and the sixth game of the season with double-digit hits

· The Bengals 16 runs against MVSU was the most from an ISU team since the 2017 season when ISU defeated Buffalo 21-9.

The Bengals continue the Whataburger Invitational tomorrow with a rematch against Buffalo and a single game against Mississippi Valley State
