Bengals Fall to Buckeyes 5-2 in Arizona

POCATELLO, Idaho - The Idaho State Bengals wrapped up the ASU/GCU Classic falling to Ohio State 5-2 Sunday morning in Phoenix, Arizona.

The Bengals move to 11-6 on the year and finish the ASU/GCU Classic 1-4.

The Bengals started off the game in a back-and forth defensive battle over the first two innings. Idaho State started the game retiring the first six batters.

Skyler Sethman reached in the second with a single to left field, but the Bengals were unable to continue the offensive production.

Ohio State broke open the scoring in the 3rd, going up 2-0 headed to the fourth.

The Bengal defense continued dealing in the fourth, going three up three down down. The third of four innings that the Bengal defense recorded three straight outs.

The Buckeyes were able to tack on three more runs in the fifth to take a 5-0 lead.

The Bengals didn't stop fighting, in the top of the sixth, Alyssa Yee doubled down the left field line. Angelica Cano then reached on a throwing error and the Bengals had two on. After a wild pitch, Yee broke up the shutout, scoring from third.

Olivia Robison then hit a double down the left field line and Cano scored to cut the Ohio State lead to 5-2.

The Bengal offense was unable to add any more runs on in the top of the 7th and the Buckeyes defeated the Bengals 5-2.

On Deck

The Bengals are back on the west coast this next week playing in the California Baptist Tournament. The Bengals will face off against Cal Poly, St. John's and California Baptist.
