Bengals Battle to Fifth Place Finish in Texas

POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State women's golf team battled the elements and five other schools at the 2024 Lamar Cardinal Challenge this weekend in Beaumont Texas.

The Bengals came in 5th place this weekend with a team score of 977 over three rounds.

"The team fought hard on a difficult course," remarked Head Coach Todd Loveland. "We were able to take a lot of positives moving into our next event in Arizona. The team improved each day and tied for the second-lowest team score the final round. We also improved by 13 shots from the event the previous year. Overall we are extremely optimistic headed into our final 2 events."

Bengal senior Alexis Wilson picked up her second-best finish of the season tying for 11th with a 54 hole score of 237 (+21). Wilson had the lowest individual round for a Bengal in round two with a score of 77.

Because of her efforts on the course, Wilson was named the Big Sky Women's golfer of the week on April 3.

Lauren Parish came in next for the Orange and Black, shooting a 246 that tied her for 16th in the tournament.

Lindsey James and Ainsley Snyder followed with scores of 249 and 254. Lauren Aasand rounded out the Bengals with a final 259.

The Bengals have one more tournament before the 2024 Big Sky Golf Championship. The Orange and Black will be in Arizona this week at the Bobcat Desert Classic April 8-10.
