Pocatello Commission to Hear Public Comment on Housing, Zoning Updates on September 9th

Pocatello residents will have an opportunity Wednesday to comment on proposed updates to the city’s Comprehensive Plan 2040 and Title 17 zoning code.

The Pocatello Planning and Zoning Commission is scheduled to hold a public hearing at 6:30 p.m. September 9 at City Hall. City officials say the proposed changes are intended to align local regulations with recent Idaho housing laws.

The revisions address where manufactured homes can be located, standards for accessory dwelling units, often called backyard cottages or in-law units, and rules for infill and starter-home subdivisions. The changes could broaden housing choices in some neighborhoods, expand opportunities for accessory units, and encourage denser development in areas already served by city infrastructure.

Residents may speak for up to three minutes during the hearing. Written comments of up to two pages will be accepted until the meeting begins.
