For at least 65 years, Idaho State University and United Way of Southeastern Idaho have worked together to address local needs. In this interview, KISU’s Jamon Anderson talks with ISU President Robert Wagner and United Way CEO Shantay Bloxham about how that relationship extends beyond the annual workplace giving campaign through research, volunteerism, and student engagement. They discuss how campaign contributions support local programs, how Student United Way helps students build community connections and leadership skills, and how university expertise helped bring Ride United’s free transportation to medical care to Southeastern Idaho. Wagner also reflects on the annual Red Hill Pillars hike as a symbol of collective effort and community support.
