Dear KISU Supporters,
Late last night, the House passed the Senate-amended Rescissions Act, which revokes $1.1 billion in critical funding for public media that had already been approved. As a result, KISU-FM has lost an unprecedented 25% of our annual budget. For a small, rural station like KISU—with limited discretionary spending—these cuts strike especially hard.
We know this news is deeply disappointing. Over the past months, more than 3 million calls and emails from Americans urged Congress to preserve funding for public media and protect vital local services. Each vote was incredibly close, shaped by a challenging and unpredictable political climate. We are deeply grateful for the extraordinary advocacy from listeners and supporters like you. Thank you for standing with us in this critical moment.
KISU-FM reaches and serves more than 15,000 East Idahoans every week. We’ve made remarkable progress in consistency and programming over the past five years—providing trustworthy news, in-depth reporting, and a platform for local arts and culture. Our commitment to the highest standards in journalism and artistic expression remains unwavering.
But the reality is stark: your support will play a significant role in determining whether KISU continues beyond the current fiscal year. Our small team will be working tirelessly to find alternative funding, but we need you with us more than ever.
What can you do to help?
- Make a direct contribution to KISU-FM at KISU.org
- Encourage local businesses to support our station
- Thank businesses who already champion public media in our community
- Share our posts & talk to others about the unique value KISU provides
- Consider leading or joining a fundraising partnership with us
- Be patient and understanding with public media outlets, as programming or staff may need to be reorganized in response to these cuts
KISU is not giving up. There are still too many important stories to tell and too many voices to amplify. This is an incredibly tough moment for all of us, but we will keep fighting to restore this funding, to continue our mission, and to serve you into the future.
Thank you for your continued commitment and generosity.
With gratitude,
Jamon Anderson
