ISU Impact: An Intersection of Fine Arts and Media Studies

Dean Kandi Turley Ames talks to Assistant Professor of Art, Shawn Edrington, and student Kiara Saylor about the new Bachelor of Fine Arts in Digital Media.

New for Catalog 22-23, the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Digital Media is an interdisciplinary degree that is served by both the Department of Communication, Media and Persuasion and the Department of Art. 

Dean Kandi Turley Ames talks with Shawn Edrington about the creation of this degree and its intersection between traditional and fine art, communications, media, and persuasion, and the digital space. They discuss digital media career fields and how students benefit from this path of study.

Student Kaira Saylor talks about what made her choose the digital media degree and her experience as a student in the program.

Kandi Turley-Ames began her journey at Idaho State University by graduating from ISU with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 1990 and a Master of Science in Psychology in 1993. She completed her Ph.D. in Psychology at Washington State University in 1996. She is a graduate of the Higher Education Resource Service for women in higher education administration. Her academic area of expertise includes memory and cognition. She has published numerous papers with colleagues and students on how strategies impact memory and higher cognitive abilities.
