Idaho State University President Kevin D. Satterlee addresses audience members during the annual President's Fall Address at Frazier Hall on Monday, August 15, 2022.

Jessa and Emma had the honor to sit down with President Satterlee to discuss current actions being taken by the executives of ISU towards sustainability goals on our campus.

At the beginning of the fall 2022 semester, in his Fall Address, President Satterlee made the exciting announcement that ISU was going carbon neutral. You can find the full address here, with the announcement at 57 minutes: https://youtu.be/tCDJh6OA-_s?t=3437. Sustainable Idaho was thrilled by this announcement and talked to President Satterlee about some of the logistics. Some of the questions Jessa and Emma asked: What is happening now? How can we–students, staff, and the wider Pocatello community–get involved? And what is President Satterlee most excited about within the new initiatives?

For comments, topic suggestions, or more information, please reach out to Jessa at jessabriggs@isu.edu and Emma at thacemma@isu.edu.

Jessa is in her final year of her undergraduate career, pursuing three majors: English with Creative Writing, History, and Global Studies with an emphasis in French Language and Literature. She is a published author through ISU's Black Rock & Sage literary magazine and hopes to join the Sustainability Club at ISU. Her sustainability journey began with her year abroad when she interned for Letters to the Earth, an organization dedicated to environmental sustainability. She hopes to work for Amnesty International until she can write books in the mountains full time.
