Jon had the trio over to his home studio to hang and talk about and check out the album.

The Kindness is based out of Boise and Rexburg, made up of three outstanding jazz musicians; Aaron Miller on bass, Jens Kuross on drum set, and Justin Nielsen on piano. The album features some absolutely ferocious musicianship and artistry from the recording session, which was done on campus at ISU in City Creek Record’s Medina Studios. Jens re-processed the recorded takes at his home studio using analog pedals and other electronic filters. This process gives The Kindness’ album a uniquely contemporary touch, re-framing what an instrumental jazz album can sound like. It’s a fresh and innovative sound, one that stands out in the field of contemporary jazz releases.

City Creek Records is proud to support and release this wonderful album, and we are excited to collaborate with The Kindness in the future.
