Host Jon Armstrong celebrates the culmination of Pride month with the 4th annual Don’t Call it Jazz episode featuring a playlist of contemporary and historic LGBTQ jazz and creative musicians. The history of jazz has a complicated and toxic relationship with LGBTQ musicians, who have often been sidelined and ostracized, preventing many talented and visionary artists from flourishing and contributing to the art form.

KISU’s McKenzie Young is in the studio with Dr. Thomas Kloss, Professor & Associate Chair of the Department of Music at Idaho State University, discussing the All-American Festival Concert at the Stephens Performing Arts Center, on July 6 at 7 PM. The “All-American Festival Concert” will raise funds for a new endowment dedicated to student scholarships in the music program.

Don’t Call it Jazz is trying a new type of conversation show where host Jon Armstrong is joined by his longtime friend and musical collaborator Keith Kelly. The two of them will be trying a couple different show formats including, Old and New Dreams, where they compare an old classic album with a modern one.

This university-wide event is a collaborative event to encompass previous research days held by the Graduate School, Office of Research, and the Kasiska Division of Health Sciences. Campus and community members are encouraged to attend the event March 13, 2024 in Pocatello and Meridian.

KISU's McKenzie Young visits with Janie Gebhardt about Living Voices, a Seattle-based theater group will be in town March 4 and 5, 2024, preforming for 8th graders in all four middle schools in the district over two days. A public performance for the community will be held at Alameda Middle School at 6:30 on Monday, March 4.
