Space Robots - Finding alien worlds

How do you find alien life? Well, first you need to find planets that might be able to support life. And that’s not as easy as it looks.

Scientists have been able to find planets orbiting distant stars, known as exoplanets, often big, Jupiter-sized planets that are relatively young. And now they’re hoping that the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope will let them find smaller, older planets that might be able to support life. And the telescope is set to blast into space Aug. 30 on a SpaceX rocket from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida!

Dr. Jason Rhodes is the JPL Roman Project Scientist and he’s coming to JUMP in Boise on Saturday, Sept. 26 for Interplanetary Life - March of the Robots!

When we heard about the March of the Robots, we had to know more, so we asked Spacepoint if they could help us get in touch with some of the people involved with the missions and they connected us with Dr. Rhodes and Kyle Averill, the president and co-founder of Spacepoint, to talk about the mission.

As Senior Producer of our live daily talk show Idaho Matters, I’m able to indulge my love of storytelling and share all kinds of information (I was probably a Town Crier in a past life). My career has allowed me to learn something new everyday and to share that knowledge with all my friends on the radio.
