Idaho State University Athletic Director, Pauline Thiros, announced that Head Men’s Tennis Coach Oliver Good has signed a new three-year contract extension, solidifying his place with the Bengals through June 2028. Since his arrival in September 2022, Coach Good has led the program to historic heights both on and off the court.
Most recently, the 2024-25 team achieved its highest-ever regular-season finish, placing second in the Big Sky Conference. The prior year the program secured its first-ever national ranking (No. 72), notched the most wins in 32 years, and became the first Big Sky Conference team to defeat reigning PAC‑12 champion Utah. In his first campaign with the Bengals, Coach Good led the Bengals to the Big Sky Conference semifinals, collected six individual titles, and saw freshman Valentino De Pellegrin named Big Sky Conference Freshman of the Year. In addition to great on-court performance the team achieved a school-best 3.75 GPA last year, with all five graduating seniors earning master’s degrees.
“I am very happy to be here at Idaho State where I get to work with a great athletic department led by Pauline and an amazing group of players that are eager for success. We have had amazing people on this team the past three years and I feel very grateful to be part of their journey.”
A former standout at Weber State, Good led the Wildcats to the 2014 Big Sky Conference Championship as team captain and MVP, and attained a national doubles ranking as high as No. 43. After graduating, he served as a graduate assistant before returning to Australia.
Good coached at the Victorian Tennis Academy, directed Jim Courier Tennis programs (2015 & 2019), and led College Recruit as Managing Director (2017-21). Most recently he served on the staff at UNLV before taking the helm at ISU.
Good has developed a number of standout players for the Bengals, including Valentino De Pellegrin (Big Sky Conference Freshman of the Year) and Victor Sklenka (Czech Republic National Team) while also seeing multiple players go on to earn all-conference recognition.
“Oliver’s vision, passion, and proven ability to recruit and develop student-athletes have transformed our men’s tennis program,” said Idaho State Athletic Director Pauline Thiros. “Under his leadership, ISU has not only achieved historic on-court success but also excelled in the classroom. We are truly fortunate to extend his contract through 2028 and build on this momentum.”
