Dr Scott Smith: Bingham County Crisis Center- “We’re Here.”

Today on Idaho Found we speak with Dr. Scott Smith. Driven to serve his community, Dr. Smith left his private chiropractic practice to become the executive director of the Bingham Crisis Center. Under the direction of Dr. Smith, Bingham Crisis Center has grown and expanded many of their services.to become a resource for families as they shape their future instead of just surviving their present. Dr. Smith wants to deliver this message to members of our community in crisis, “We’re here”.

Dr. Scott Smith was born in the Blackfoot area, graduating from Snake River High School. He furthered his education with a Bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University – Idaho and a second Bachelors degree from Logan University in Saint Louis, Missouri. He finished school with a Doctor of Chiropractic Degree and a Masters Degree in Sports Science and Rehabilitation in 2013.

He left private practice in 2017 to become the executive director of the Bingham Crisis Center, where he continues to lead. He earned the Business Management Award Logan College of Chiropractic in 2013 and was awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Leadership in the Idaho nonprofit sector in 2023. He was presented with the Hero Award by his Board of Directors for his fiscal oversight in paying off the Crisis Center’s building in 2022.

Scott is inspired daily by his wife, Jamie, and their two children. In his spare time, he enjoys learning new things, doing projects around the house, and relaxing with his family.

Mark S. Young is a native of Idaho, a graduate of Idaho State University, a community organizer, and a financial professional. For over 30 years, Mark has supported economic development on both local and state levels. Recently he completed his term as a member of the Idaho Department of Commerce Economic Advisory Council. He is currently a board member/past president of The City Club of Idaho Falls and a past president of the Idaho Falls Rotary and Idaho Falls Chamber of Commerce. Mark played a vital role in the development of the Idaho State University and University of Idaho Higher Education Center (University Place) in Idaho Falls. Additionally, Mark served for six years as a lay member of the Idaho State Bar Association’s Professional Conduct Board. He has two sons, both veterans who served in Iraq: Steven is a general contractor in Montana, and Adam is involved in security at the Idaho National Laboratory.
