Southeast Idaho Homeless Stand Down

In its 27th year, the Southeast Idaho Homeless Stand Down is a community event put on collaboratively by a large group of individuals representing various programs at Idaho State University as well as many support agencies in the surrounding community. Jessica Buckley and Kale Bergeson, event and volunteer coordinators, visit with KISU's McKenzie Young for details on how all in the community can participate.

The Stand Down is Saturday, November 2, from 8 - 11 AM at the Student Recreation Center [climbing wall] next to Reed Gym, 1291 Martin Luther King Jr Way in Pocatello. This resource fair is for veterans and others who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and includes a free hot breakfast, medical and mental health screenings and services, clothing, hygiene kits, and information about many supportive resources available in Pocatello.

Any of our neighbors who are struggling with homelessness are invited and welcome to participate. There is free Pocatello Regional Transit bus fare for B Route that starts at Pine Ridge Mall, 4155 Yellowstone Ave. in Chubbuck, at 9:10 AM on Saturday for the event.

It is also an excellent volunteer opportunity. Volunteers are welcome the day before the event, on Friday, November 1 from 3 - 7 PM, and the day of the event from 6 AM - 2 PM.
