The federal wildland firefighting force is currently split between five land management agencies – the Forest Service (under the U.S. Department of Agriculture), the National Park Service, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Bureau of Land Management, and the Bureau of Indian Affairs (under the Department of the Interior).

FBI’s 90-day effort to gather more information about MMIP cases doesn’t yield any new discoveries
Earlier this year, the Federal Bureau of Investigation launched a data collection project to gather more information about missing and murdered cases involving Native Americans throughout Wyoming. Over a 90-day period, the agency received 35 tips, including four homicide cases and three missing persons cases. They’d all been previously reported to law enforcement and investigated already.
Melting Mountain West glaciers are producing toxic mercury in wetland areas, study finds
A new study shows climate change is melting glaciers and permafrost in the Mountain West. Researchers say this can trigger the production of toxic mercury in mountain wetlands, posing risks to water supplies and wildlife.
