Valley Mission is partnered with Housing Alliance and Community Partnerships to provide the Pocatello and Chubbuck communities an Emergency Warming Shelter at the old Convergys Building, 805 N Main, and they need the communities help by volunteering. Jessica Buckley, Grants Administrator with Aid For Friends Pocatello, and Karl Pettit, Director of Valley Mission, share more information with McKenzie about the new warming shelter in Pocatello.

Under the direction of Dr. Smith, Bingham Crisis Center has grown and expanded many of their services.to become a resource for families as they shape their future instead of just surviving their present. Dr. Smith wants to deliver this message to members of our community in crisis, “We’re here”.

The Pocatello Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) will honor the fourth local resumption of the Juneteenth celebration, the day celebrated as emancipation day, “the end of slavery,” on June 21, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Pocatello Senior Activity Center, 427 N. Sixth. The public is invited. McKenzie Young is joined with Jan Gillette, the President of Pocatello Branch of NAACP, to learn about this enormously significant day for African Americans, June 19, 1865, and how it will be celebrated locally with an ethnic and traditional food picnic and other activities.
